PROJECT

The SOMMOSSA project examines how social media influences the public’s perception of corruption and how social movements use social media to engage in anti-corruption activities and promote civic vigilance.

Considering corruption as a socially constructed phenomenon, the project seeks to explore the dynamics of anti-corruption advocacy and the evolution of mobilization tactics in Italy in the era of social media. The research will concentrate on how social media facilitates the observation and understanding of corruption as a social issue, affecting people’s awareness, attitudes, beliefs, and actions towards combating corruption. The project's outcomes are expected to offer both theoretical insights and practical implications for the effectiveness of anti-corruption initiatives, enhancing knowledge about the factors that contribute to the success or failure of such campaigns.
